This slate is supplied as a riven tile which means the surface is textured. Many slate products are heavily riven which creates a lipped and uneven floor. The stone tiles we supply are only very lightly riven which means the floor retains the character and feel of a slate floor, but without being heavily lipped and uneven. The colour of the slate is charcoal black.
These tiles are suitable for use on walls and floors, internally and externally. Our black slate is cut into tiles of even thickness. Fitting is therefore straight forward and the finished floor level. We import the slate tiles from India where the stone is quarried and cut. The stone is not very porous and when sealed it is one of the highly impermeable, and hard wearing. When fitting this stone outside it should be tiled onto a screeded suface using exterior grade tile adhesive. EG Stonefix Grey Adhesive.
